Purpose: To warmly welcome new students into the school community by providing them with an engaging and informative tour, introducing them to key staff members, and offering a smooth transition to school life.
Team: Our school guidance counselor's and admissions office will work closely with military families to help them transition to life in Callaway High School. They provide information to families on available resources in our area, as well as online. We know that moving is challenging, especially for military families. It is typically easier for new students to transition into a smaller sized school where the student can quickly learn his/her way around campus, get to know teachers, make friends and have the opportunity to participate in some of the many extracurricular activities offered. Children of active military duty members moving to our area can be enrolled at Callaway High School at any time during the school year. Interested families can schedule a time to come for a school visit. Tours can be scheduled during the school day or after school to accommodate your schedule.
Enrollment Procedures: We are excited to have your child join our district and can hardly wait to meet them. A list of required documents that you will need are Parent’s Government-Issued Photo ID or Driver's License, Student's Original, Long-Form, Certified Birth Certificate, Student's Mississippi Immunization Form 121/122, Two Proofs of Residency - A copy of mortgage document, filed homestead exemption, property deed, or current lease agreement AND one current utility bill (gas, water & sewer, Entergy, home phone or internet) OR Driver's License, Voter Registration Card, Automobile Registration/Insurance, DHS or IRS documents from current year showing residence property address and withdrawal Form or report card from previous school.
The district website will provide additional detailed information in the Enrollment Services & Records section.
Military Interstate Compact- MIC3
The Council of State Governments (CSG), in cooperation with the US Department of Defense, drafted this to address some of the educational challenges transitioning children of military families. The Compact addresses key educational transition issues encountered by military families including enrollment, placement, attendance, eligibility, and graduation. In addition, the Compact provides for a detailed governance structure at both the state and national levels with built-in enforcement and compliance mechanisms.
