Ms. Renna Moore-Edwards
Renna Moore-Edwards is the Visual Art Department Chair and the 2D Studio Visual Arts & Advanced Placement instructor at Wells APAC, where she focuses on drawing, painting, mixed media, and art technique lessons. Mrs. Moore-Edwards is from central Mississippi (Jackson and Brandon) and attended Mississippi College where she earned her degree in Art Education, Masters Certification in Gifted, and is AP certified. Mrs. Moore-Edwards is a National Board Certified Teacher in Art-Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood.
Teaching since 2004, Mrs. Moore-Edwards is currently on her 20th year of teaching, where she has been in ÃÙȦ×ÊÔ´Õ¾ for 11 years and currently at Wells APAC for 6 years. Before coming to Wells APAC, Ms. Moore-Edwards taught 6th-12th grade art in Hinds County and high school art at Forest Hill High School. Mrs. Moore-Edwards founded the National Art Honor Society at FHHS in 2014 and at Wells APAC in 2019. Outside of Wells APAC, she is the MAEA President, currently on the MS Department of Education Advisory Committee for Arts (Visual Art Representative), a 2023-2024 Lowell Milken Arteffects Ambassador, and is a NAEA National Mentor to other art teachers. Mrs. Moore-Edwards is also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, volunteers with the Arts Infusion Brotherhood (sponsored by GJAC and 100 Black Men), and is an active member of the Junior League of Jackson and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Watercolor is her favorite medium of choice, but Mrs. Moore-Edwards also works with a variety of other media, such as relief printmaking, drawing, batik, and contemporary mixed media pieces that incorporate embroidery, electrical lights, 3D printing, and other technology-based art media.
Mrs. Moore-Edwards’s approach to education has earned her the 2018 National Art Education Association Mississippi Outstanding Educator Award, 2017 MAEA Bill Poirier Art Educator of the Year, the 2018-2019 Parents for Public School ÃÙȦ×ÊÔ´Õ¾ Outstanding Educator, the 2020 Arts Institute of MS Outstanding Arts Educator in Visual Arts Award, Mississippi 2020-21 MAEA Secondary Art Educator of the Year, and 2024 MAAE Thad Cochran Mississippi Outstanding Arts Educator award.
