1. Financial Aid
Financial aid for college generally comes from four sources:
- Federal financial aid
- State financial aid
- Institutional scholarships
- Private scholarships
Scholarships and grants are usually not required to be repaid (as long as the terms of the grant or scholarship are met by the students), but loans are repaid. For information on institutional and private agency scholarships, please visit the page.
The first step to all financial aid is the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application. Most colleges and universities require students to complete the FAFSA before they can receive institutional scholarships.
This page is dedicated to Government financial aid.
The FAFSA application is the gateway to the Pell Grant, federal student loans, and federal work-study programs. Click on the FAFSA logo.

Exceptional Educations Services
-
1. Exceptional Educations Services
Support for military families with special needs family members is provided through the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP). Although each Service has its own EFMP, they all serve the same essential function: coordinating the assignment process to ensure special needs families are not sent to locations that lack adequate medical or educational resources. Installation EFMP programs offer support programs and provide families with information about and referral to local services. Enrollment in the EFMP is mandatory for active duty service members who have dependent family members with ongoing medical, mental health, or special educational needs.
How Can We Help You?
The Federation empowers families so that they have the information and resources they need for their children. We work with families with children from birth to adulthood, providing individual assistance, training, and leadership development and support. We focus on education, early intervention, health care, transitions, children in foster care and group homes, and building strong family engagement to support all children, especially those children with disabilities, those at risk, and those with economic, cultural or linguistic barriers.
