      We are excited to welcome you to the Military Star School Program, a proud initiative of the Jackson Public School District, with the mission to provide a smooth and supportive transition into a new school environment while fostering educational excellence and social-emotional growth.

      At Forest Hill High School, we recognize and honor the unique challenges and sacrifices faced by military families. This program meets the educational, social, and emotional needs of military-connected students, ensures they remain on track for college, the workforce, and a successful future.

    OBJECTIVE

    The Military Star School program will be established at Forest Hill High School in the 2025-2026 school year as a part of a districtwide initiative.  The program's goal is to create an environment that is supportive during the transition of a military dependent into the Jackson Public School District.  The Military Star School program is designed to help schools respond to the educational and social-emotional challenges military-connected children face during their transition to a new school and keep them on track to be college, workforce, and life-ready.

    VISION  

     The vision is to provide a smooth transition into a new school environment while fostering educational excellence.

    PURPOSE

    The Military Star School program is designed to support military-connected children while recognizing the value of military service and civic responsibility. It aims to meet the educational and social-emotional needs of military-connected children and keep them on track for college, the workforce, and life.

    ANNUAL ACTIVITIES

    Military Night on the Hill, is held in conjunction with a football game where service recruiters will provide anyone interested in the military or a specific branch of the service a presentation.  This annual event is followed up with an onsite ASVAB examination within a defined period of time.  Additional details about this event can be gotten from the JROTC department, the school Athletic department chair, the school administrative team or a local recruiting station.  

    Veterans Day Honoree celebration, all present and past veterans will be honored with a small tribute for their service to this country.  All attendees will learn a little about all of the branches of the military, a little about the history of veterans' day and be inspired to continue to serve others with selfless dedication to a greater cause.

    Purple Week is a series of events designed to highlight all branches of service children in April annually. During this week all branches of the military service children will be honored, an educational presentation of their goals, accomplishments and opportunities to achieve excellence will be introduced to the student body and a 'Purple" day of activities will end this week.

  • Military Star School Program Introduction

    Learn about Forest Hill High School implementation of the Military Star School Program.  Visit the introduction presentation and explore the webpages that provide additional information about the program.  All facility and staff on February 18 @ 4:15 pm will receive this training during the monthly staff experience. 

    ÃÙȦ×ÊÔ´Õ¾ the school SMPOC or school administration for presentation if you missed the primary date and time.

  • ASVAB on the 'Hill"

    ASVAB on the 'Hill" - contact the cadre of LET III or IV for registration procedures for the Feb 27, 2025 assessment.  The second option for registration is grade level (11th & 12th) counselors or the College Career Readiness teachers.

    This assessment is an opportunity to explore potential careers, determine standardize test levels ranking and provide entry scores into a military branch of service.  

    The students of Forest Hill High will be given first priority of registration then any district cadets followed by any non FHHS student within ÃÙȦ×ÊÔ´Õ¾ district.  Any available slots after these groups will be open to service recruiter prospects.  

  • Purple Week 

    Purple Week is a series of events designed to highlight all branches of service, April 2025. 

    During this week all branches of the military service will be honored, an educational presentation of their goals and opportunities will be introduced to the student body and a 'Purple" day of activities will end this week.
